Drawn to the Valley and the Horn of Plenty Hotel
The Tamar Valley is host to a large number of artists and has been an inspiration to many since Turner’s visits in the early nineteenth century. Today, artists who have been drawn to live in the area are working in a variety of ways and media that reflect developments in contemporary art.
The Drawn to the Valley artist led and managed group now has over 100 members, ranging from painters and printmakers to ceramicists, sculptors and textile artists.
In June 2007, Drawn to the Valley joined forces with Peter Gorton, Master Chef of the Horn of Plenty Hotel, Gulworthy, to develop an exhibition of artists work in the award-winning restaurant.
The Horn of Plenty Hotel & Restaurant in Devon is set in five acres of spectacular gardens and wild orchards with breathtaking views over the tranquil Tamar Valley near Tavistock.
Peter Gorton, personally chose each artist and said: "It was difficult deciding which Drawn to the Valley artist to choose to be the first to exhibit, because they were all superb. There are so many talented artists around in the Tamar Valley and I'm delighted the Horn of Plenty can support them."
Each artist displayed their work for three months, before another took their turn.
